Brent Selby (cello)
Born and raised in the countryside of Bath, North Carolina, Brent Selby quickly realized that farming was not the career for him. Leaving the rural life behind, he made his way up north where he received a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Boston’s New England Conservatory.
Since graduating, Brent has performed with a wide range of musicians from ATC to Bernadette Peters in venues which range from smaller local stages like Brighton Hall to renowned stages such as Symphony Hall. He recently debuted at Symphony Hall performing the Steel Magnolias Cello Theme under the Baton of Alan Sylvestri.
Brent’s passion for performance is only outmatched by his love for teaching. Since 2010, Brent has been cello faculty for the Franklin String School in Franklin, Massachusetts and in 2013 he became a recent addition to the Boston String Academy’s cello faculty.
